Altimeter Navigation
Altimeters are no longer considered a fancy toy but a key aid to effective navigation in the mountains. Our 1-day altimeter navigation courses will allow experienced mountain navigators to get the most out of their digital altimeters.
All courses are conducted outdoors on the hill and will cover comparison between digital and traditional altimeters, altimeter calibration, position determination, weather prediction, contouring and traversing, relocation, slope aspect, aiming off and altimeter limitations.
Please note that our altimeter navigation courses involve advanced techniques and are suitable only for those experienced in general mountain navigation. Altimeters are not provided for these courses and should be purchased individually prior to attending a course.
