Cuillin Ridge Traverse
The Cuillin Ridge Traverse on the Isle of Skye is the finest summer mountaineering expedition in the British Isles. The ridge runs for nearly 8 miles and involves over 10,000 feet of ascent much of it involving scrambling with some sections of rock climbing and abseiling. Completing the traverse ranks high among many mountaineers' aspirations.
Snowdonia Climbing offers a 5-day programme involving 2 days spent preparing and acclimatising on sections of the ridge before completing a 2-day South to North traverse with a planned bivvy midway. An extra day is kept in hand for flexibility and to maximise chances of success given the vagueries of the weather.
The traverse is a significant undertaking suitable only for those with previous scrambling experience. The package is inclusive of guiding, loan of technical equipment and bivvy equipment for the 2-day traverse. Cost per person with a guiding ratio of 1:2 is £400.
