GPS
Handheld GPS receivers are a powerful navigation tool. Our GPS courses have been specifically tailored for the hillwalker and whether you're new to GPS or have been using one for a while, our courses will ensure you get the most out of your handheld system.
Snowdonia Climbing offers two 1-day courses; GPS Basic and GPS Advanced. Both run on concurrent days so you can choose if you wish, to attend both back to back. Both courses are conducted outdoors on the hill in order to provide the most realistic venue for learning.
The Garmin eTrex H will be available for use on all courses though those who already own their own receiver should bring them along. At the course conclusion, those who wish to do so, may purchase their eTrex H at a greatly reduced price to that available in the shops.
Course dates (all costs are per person):
GPS Basic This 1-day course introduces the hillwalker to GPS and includes how the GPS System works, GPS set-up, negotiating the GPS receiver menus, creating, using and amending waypoints, the GOTO function and GPS limitations.
GPS Advanced This 1-day course builds on the GPS Basic course and covers Worldwide roaming, creating and following routes, the backtrack function and trip functions.
