Greenland - The Arctic CircleTrail
The Arctic Circle Trail (aka The Sisimiut Trail) in Western Greenland is one of the greatest treks to be found anywhere and is the longest waymarked trail in Greenland.
Over the course of 150km, it weaves its way through remote and magnificent terrain between Kangerlussuaq near the inland icecap and the coastal town of Sisimiut. Making the most of the short Arctic summer, plants abound to produce a stunning backdrop of ever changing colour. At night, the Northern Lights light up the sky.
As well as the stunning vistas, there are opportunities to spot wildlife including arctic hare and fox, caribou, muskox and birds of prey. Fish and in particular, Arctic Char, abound and can easily be caught from rivers using simple line and spinners.
