Navigation is part skill, part judgement, lots of practise and sometimes a measure of good fortune. Which aspect do you rely upon most to get around?
Our mountain navigation courses will suit all levels of map reader from the hopelessly lost to the ML aspirant. Courses are conducted outdoors teaching map reading skills and then putting them into practice because, where map reading is concerned, practice does make perfect.
We will cover 1:50,000 and 1:25,000 map scales as well as an introduction to GPS and altimeters as an aid to navigation. All our navigation courses also involve map reading in reduced visibility and may involve evening activities outdoors.
As an Open Course Provider for the National Navigation Award Scheme, many of our courses are dedicated to the NNAS Bronze and Silver Level awards. Such courses are clearly identified on our courses page.
