Greenland - Arctic Circle Trail

The Arctic Circle Trail in Western Greenland is a wonderful and very special remote trekking experience. Our guided package offers the opportunity to experience the Greenlandic summer at its very best. Over the course of its 165km, the trail weaves its way through the arctic tundra from Kangerlussuaq near the inland icecap to the coastal town of Sisimiut. Making the most of the short arctic summer, plants abound to produce a stunning backdrop of spectacular colour and variety.

As well as stunning vistas, there are opportunities to spot wildlife such as arctic hare and arctic fox, caribou, muskox, birds of prey and waterfowl. Trekking food can be supplemented on the trail with wild berries, mussels, cod and arctic char which are easily caught from rivers using simple line and spinners.

Whilst the terrain itself is not overly arduous, prospective clients must be certain that they will be comfortable walking with a rucksack that weighs up to 18Kg (40lbs) at the outset; daily trekking distances vary between 11 and 22km. Accommodation on the trail will be wild camping though the opportunity may arise, when capacity allows, to make use of remote cabins along the trail. Flight routing to Greenland is via Copenhagen where stop-overs are required on both outward and return legs.

Pricing includes 10 days guiding on the trail, 2 nights hotel accommodation in Copenhagen, all food (trekking and in towns) in Greenland, hostel accommodation in Greenland, an internal flight between Sisimiut and Kangerlussuaq and remote emergency support throughout; tent and stove loan if required is also included in the pricing. Flights to and from Greenland (via Copenhagen), personal medical, travel and remote rescue insurance and meals in Copenhagen are not included.
